We are thrilled to announce that the Vatorex heat treatment solution has been welcomed into the 1000 solutions community.
The Solar Impulse Foundation is the creation of Swiss Adventurer and climate visionary Betrand Piccard, who became the first person to successfully complete a round-the-world solar powered flight in 2016. Since then, Betrand and the team have set a goal of selecting and championing ‘1000 solutions’ that have a positive on the environment, in a real and workable manner.
The focus of the Solar Impulse Foundation is to boost the adoption of solutions that protect the environment while also being commercially viable, and to enable decision makers to set more ambitious environmental targets. The Solar Impulse Efficient Solution label aims to recognize and celebrate these products and services.
The evaluation process involves a thorough assessment based upon a verified methodology in environmental impact such as contributions to at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the commercial opportunity of the solution. The assessment is conducted by external specialists.
The heat treatment solution by Vatorex is a system of embedded heating cells set within the brood comb of a honey-bee colony. These heating cells function as ‘floor-heating’ to eliminate the varroa mite – the biggest problem for honey bees worldwide, without the need for harmful miticides.
CEO of Vatorex, Pascal Brunner said ‘The 1000 solutions community and the Solar Impulse Foundation are at the forefront of environmental innovation around the globe. To see our efforts recognized alongside the technologies that are shaping a more environmentally positive future, it really means a lot. Our team are incredibly honoured’.
