Vatorex receives funding from the European Commission Horizon 2020 Program

Established in 2014 as an instrument to drive innovation, Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and development programme ever, with nearly 80 billion € of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020). We are ecstatic to announce that after a thorough evaluation process, Vatorex has been granted 1.6 million euros, to enhance our digital beekeeping platform and chemical free varroa solution.

Innovation is a key focus for Vatorex, and we have come a long way since 2016. Our product offering has grown from a revolutionary heat treatment for varroa, to a complete platform with varroa solution, digital hardware, and mobile app. From winning important prizes, such as Venture Kick, De Vigier, Swiss Innovation Challenge, and the Umweltpreis, we now have the support of the European Commission in the fight to save the world’s honeybee populations.

The Horizon 2020 grant will enable us to accelerate our product development roadmap, conduct research into new technologies and to drive our go-to market strategy for the commercial beekeeping sector. To lead these ambitious goals, the position of Chief Technology Officer will be added to our senior team. Development and marketing teams will also be expanded upon.

Our mission is to help save the bees, by becoming the world leader in eco-positive apiculture technology. We hope that these funds, assist us in this mission.

Pascal, our Founder and CEO said:

«This is an amazing opportunity for the Vatorex team and a huge vote of confidence from the EU commission. At a time where many of societies structures are being severely tested, the world’s honeybee populations, and the food systems that rely on them, are at there most vulnerable. It is a privilege to be at the forefront of the fight to save the honey bees, while also providing an ecological and commercially exciting solution for our partners and clients.»
